Decomposers are fungi and bacteria that break down the bodies of dead organisms and wastes, and recycle matter for the producer to reuse. Decomposers are important for an ecosystem to keep functioning, because an ecosystem would not be able to function properly without them. Decomposers allow matter to cycle around all ecosystems.
